Tech N9ne wants you to know he is alive and well.
Rumors of the death of the 47-year-old Missouri-born rapper were exaggerated after he rose to Twitter Monday to mourn the death of another recording artist: battle rapper Philadelphia Tech 9, aka Akeem Mickens, 32.
“Condolences at the Tech 9 rapper battle,” Tech N9ne said in a black and white video. “He has fought for years. I have observed many battles. Condolences for the family.”
The mass confusion signal in the hip-hop community as fans struggled to determine which of the same monikered rapper really died.
After fans began to give sincere homage to Tech N9ne and his family, the artist – whose real name is Aaron Dontez Yates – tried to clarify the situation in a gloomy black-and-white video.
“My family called the phone and I wondered if I was okay – I’m fine. I express my condolences to the rapper battle, Tech 9. Philly, stand up, “he said.
“This Tech N9ne will pass customs in the US, originating from Canada, coming from Europe,” said “Worldwide Choppers” singer and founder of record label Strange Music in the video, shifting the security line at the airport.
Tech N9ne’s clarification doesn’t seem to touch the house – because a lot of social media is still mourning his death.
“THERE IS NO WAY. IS THE TECH N9NE PASSED? “One of the mourning fans, KAlonso_LNG, tweeted.
The @FluffyiG caring tweeter chimed in with ” Tech 9 ‘or’ Tech N9ne ‘someone gave me details. ”
The fellow rapper fight, Butta From-Da, announced the death of Tech 9 on Monday on Facebook: “PHILADELPHIA AND RAP BATTLE CULTURE ALL TAKE LOSING WITH THIS ONE. HE IS A WIRAUSAHAWAN, GENTLEMAN, FATHER, ENTHUSIAST AND PHILANTHROPIST. With Deep Hurt and sadness I say we will miss you and love you friend. ”
The cause of death has not been released, XXL Mag reported.
